I take citizenship very seriously, and I have only missed one election (A single city council seat was at stake. I had every intention of voting, but I had a lot going on that day, and by the time I had a free minute, the polls had closed.) where I was eligible to vote. But I don't campaign much. In almost every case, my impression is that all the candidates involved are all decent, well-meaning individuals who sincerely want to serve, and that they differ mainly in priorities and methods. I do what responsible citizenship requires and move on to the important stuff - family, work, art, literature, science and technology, cooking dinner.

Unfortunately, at this point "what responsible citizenship requires" is whatever it takes to bring about regime change. The arrogance and incompetence of the Administration, the secrecy, the intrusiveness, have reached a point where my nose does not have the strength to support thick enough rose-colored glasses to maintain my trust that those in power are sincerely trying to serve the Republic. I try very hard to see the other side. I always assume the other side has a valid position and is motivated by patriotism, and when that appears not to be the case, I assume I have missed something. I have managed (sometimes with effort) to respect every administration - no matter how much I disagreed with it - since Gerald Ford's. I can't do it this time. I really did try.

So there is politics on this page, mostly in the form of links to more political sites, until we get a govornment I can mostly ignore. One that doesn't threaten my family, work, art, literature, science and technology, and dinner.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
