Don’t Believe

We need to be able to say strongly, firmly, and proudly what we believe.

Because we are what we believe.

Howard Dean, George Washington University, December 8, 2004

And that is good, and moral, and Christian (also Moslem, Jewish, Buddhist, …)

We don’t believe this stuff, we know it. We (when we have the guts) are it.

Cut that word “believe” out of your political language. It is weak. Do the Occidental* Taliban say they believe? No - they say this is the way it is. Are we less right than they are? Is their point of view truth while ours is only belief?

* I’m trying to come up with a less positive modifier for “Taliban” than “Christian” or “American”. Let’s not use words like that when referring to the aggressors of the culture wars. People who are paying attention hear sentences, the masses hear words. That’s why the Bushistas say the words “9/11″ and “terrorist” and “Al Qaida” close to when they say “Iraq” even though the sentences don’t state any real connection. Say “American Taliban” and “Christian Taliban” enough times and “Taliban” will turn into a good word.

‘Occidental’ means Western.
